All About Lash Extensions

Lash extensions

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic or real mink, individual extensions that are applied one by one to each individual natural lash. There are many different lengths, thicknesses, curls and even colors (although the most popular being jet black) available to create a completely customized look to enhance and define your natural beauty!

Do they damage your natural lashes?

If applied properly by a trained and certified lash artist then lash extensions should NEVER cause damage to your natural lashes! Nor does the application hurt! In fact, it is a very relaxing experience that most of our clients will fall asleep and have a smallish lash nap. The health of your natural lashes is our top priority and therefore we will never apply an extension that is too long or too heavy for your natural lash to support. We also take our time applying your extensions so that no lashes will be stuck together as a result of a rushed appointment! It is recommended however that you do not pull or tug at your extensions as this could result in premature lash loss. The extensions will shed naturally when your natural lash is shed at the end of it's growth cycle, If you find yourself needing them removed for whatever reason, please come in and see us for a quick and painless removal process!

How long do the extensions last?

This is different with everyone but with proper home care your extensions will last you between 6-8 weeks.  It is important to remember that due to natural shedding of our lashes you will lose between 3-5 lashes everyday so touch ups are important if you are wanting to keep your lashes nice and full! Most clients will come in every 3 weeks on average. If you are loosing your extensions quicker than this, it may be due to improper home care, not cleansing the lashes well, sweaty or oily eyelids causing buildup or buildup due to makeup not being thoroughly removed. Various medications, hormones, allergies, lifestyle choices, daily activities or even seasonal changes could all affect retention. If you are having a problem with retention please contact us immediately so we can try and troubleshoot the cause of this with you! We really do want everyone to love and get the most out of their extensions!

Can I wear makeup, mascara and/or eyeliner?

Short answer: Yes AND No...

In most cases that lashes that we use are black as is the adhesive. For this reason, you really don't need mascara and in most cases, you don't need eyeliner either. If you are going to wear makeup, we recommend using oil free products so that you may extend the life of your extensions. We also would recommend cleaning your lashes as soon as possible to keep any buildup off of your lashes. If you are nearing your touch up appointment and must wear mascara please only use the mascara on the tips of your extensions so as not to damage the existing extensions. Ask us about a extension safe mascara/eyeliner that is oil free and safe to be worn with your extensions! Also, if you have any type of volume lashes on, then mascara is a no-no anyway as it will close up your volume fans and make it look like you are missing lashes when you are not!

How do I clean my extensions?

Not only do we recommend but it is necessary to clean and brush your lashes daily. This is to not only keep your extensions looking good, but it also stimulates the follicles which results in numerous, long natural lashes but it also helps to prevent infections, irritations and other major health issues. You will want to first use an oil free makeup remover and then follow up with an approved cleanser that is formulated specially for your extensions. If you are coming in for a full set, we will provide you with a sample in your aftercare kit.

Caring for your extensions...

  • Avoid excessive heat/steam as this will relax the curl of your extensions

  • Avoid oil based products/creams/makeup, use only water based mascara/eyeliner if you must use them.

  • Do not pick/pull/fiddle with extensions, if you need them removed, please come in to have them removed.

  • Do not perm/tint extensions

  • Do not use lash curlers- if you desire more of a curl it can be addressed at your next appt.

  • Do not rub your eyes. Use your mascara wand in an upward sweeping motion (never side to side) or rub your lower lash line while your eyes are open to relieve the urge to rub at your eyes.

  • Do not cut the extensions, if a shorter length is desired then it can be addressed at your next appt.

  • Use a cleanser daily and brush your lashes once in the morning and once in the evening to keep them well groomed and straight.

  • Try sleeping on your back as you will notice more lash loss on whichever side it is you sleep on. Please avoid sleeping on your stomach at all costs if possible.

  • Come in for touch up appointments between 2-4 weeks to keep your lashes looking their best.

All About UV Lash Extensions

What are UV Lash Extensions?

UV lash extensions are a newer, advanced lash extension system that uses a special LED/UV light to instantly cure the adhesive. Unlike traditional lash glue that air-dries, UV lash adhesive only hardens when exposed to the light — giving us more control, better bonding, and more consistent results.

Do UV lash extensions take less time?

Yes. Because the adhesive cures instantly under the UV light, your appointment is often shorter and more efficient.

What that means for you:

  • Less time lying still

  • Faster application

  • No “waiting period” for the glue to set

Many clients love this because they can get back to their day sooner.

Are UV lash extensions affected by humidity?

No — and this is a big difference from traditional lash extensions.

Traditional lash glue relies on air and humidity to cure, which is why retention can vary from season to season. UV lash adhesive cures only when exposed to the UV light, so humidity and temperature do not impact the bonding process.

This gives you more consistent retention year-round, even in dry winters or humid summers.

Do UV lash extensions last longer?

For many clients, yes.

Because the adhesive is fully cured instantly and evenly, UV lash extensions often provide stronger, more stable bonds, which can mean:

  • Better retention

  • Fewer premature fallouts

  • Longer-lasting sets between fills

Retention still depends on your natural lash cycle and aftercare, but this system removes many of the variables that cause early shedding.

Are UV lash extensions more comfortable?

Many clients report less irritation and discomfort compared to traditional lash extensions.

Why?

  • UV adhesives are typically low-fume or odorless

  • No glue vapors curing near the eyes

  • No waiting for adhesive to “finish curing” after the appointment

This makes UV lashes a great option for clients who experience burning, watering, or sensitivity during traditional lash applications.

I’ve had a reaction to lash extensions before — can I try UV lashes?

Possibly — but with honesty and care.

UV lash adhesives are not acrylate-free. They still contain acrylates, which are the ingredient responsible for most lash adhesive allergies.

However:

  • UV adhesives often contain fewer volatile fumes

  • Some clients who reacted to traditional glue tolerate UV systems better

  • Reduced exposure time and instant curing may lower irritation for some individuals

⚠️ Important:
If you’ve had a true acrylate allergy, UV lashes may still cause a reaction. For safety, a patch test is strongly recommended before a full set.

Is the UV light safe for my eyes?

Yes — when used correctly.

The UV/LED light used in lash applications is low-intensity and designed specifically for cosmetic use. Your eyes remain closed during the service, and protective measures are always followed.

Your safety is a top priority, and the light is only used for brief, controlled exposure at the lash base.

Can I wear makeup or get my lashes wet after?

Yes — almost immediately.

Because the adhesive is fully cured during your appointment:

  • No 24–48 hour waiting period

  • You can shower, wash your face, and live your life normally

  • Still avoid oil-based products directly on the lashes for best longevity

Do UV lashes still need aftercare?

Yes — great retention still requires good habits.

To keep your lashes looking their best:

  • Clean lashes regularly with a lash-safe cleanser

  • Avoid rubbing or picking

  • Skip oil-based eye products

  • Schedule fills every 2–3 weeks

UV lashes are durable, but your natural lashes still shed naturally.

Who are UV lash extensions best for?

UV lash extensions are a great option if you:

  • Want longer-lasting retention

  • Have struggled with poor retention in the past

  • Are sensitive to traditional lash fumes

  • Want a faster, more consistent service

  • Live in a climate where humidity affects lash results

They’re ideal for clients who want modern, reliable, low-stress lash extensions.

Ready to see if UV lashes are right for you?

Every client is different. If you’ve had sensitivity in the past or want to explore whether UV lash extensions are a good fit, I’m happy to guide you through your options — including patch testing if needed.

Your comfort, safety, and results always come first.
